I really love food. Apparently, too much food can be a bad thing. I hear exercise can counteract that problem. I run so I can eat. Thus, I love to run.

Oh yum. I wish. A few July 4ths ago, in CA, I made a mixed berry cake and served it with blueberry compote, strawberry compote and fresh whipped cream. God. Can you just come down here and make all that FOR me please? :)

I will come to Texas. I will bring Mark. He and Steve can spin records and talk music. Me and you will be in the kitchen whipping up a feast and loving every minute of it. Maybe we will even go for a run together. I am sure we would spam Tumblr the whole time.

Some day…..*big sigh* :)

XXVIII. What is the oldest material object that you own?

Hmm…geez this is a lot harder than I thought. I don’t think I own any heirloom type objects. And I am not the type of person that collects antiques.

I do have a cool leather booklet that stores two decks of cards and a pad of paper and pencil. It looks like it might be from the 50’s or 60’s. It has never been used. I just can’t bring myself to do it. I also have a book of rules for card games that is rather old and brittle. I have used that quite a bit.

I have a Pez collection, but none that are too old. I accumulated most of them in high school. I need to sell them, they just sit in a box.

Oh, and I have a clown that my grandma made me when I was little. It is falling apart and a bit creepy. But, I don’t know if I will ever be able to throw the thing away.

So, pretty much if I had to sell off my estate to make money…I wouldn’t make much, lol ;) Cassette tape, anyone? I think I have Coolio or Janet Jackson…..

My dad is a minister and I’ve lived in a crazy amount of homes in my lifetime too! :)

Another PK!  I feel like we need to form our own club or something, lol :)

happyhealthycook replied to your post: turtleseyeview replied to your post: It isn’t…

Agreed 100% about the best ice cream. Perfect vanilla. Fresh strawberry/raspberry compote for me.

Am I surprised that we agree on this?  Of course not! ;)

And yes, a freshly made warm compote on top of the ice cream, heaven.

When the blueberries are ready this year, I may just have to get the ole crank ice cream maker out and do up a blueberry sauce to put on top ;)  Want to come to Michigan early August?  The berries will be ready and it will be my birthday, you can just call it your gift to me, lol :)

almondsofjoy replied to your post: turtleseyeview replied to your post: It isn’t…

22 homes!?!? Whoa!!!

Yeah, I moved around a bit;)

My dad is a pastor, so we moved a few times due to that. And then my parents were divorced, so I always had two homes growing up. My mom moved quite a few times as well.
And then once I moved out of the house, I did my own moving around. Three different places in Portland, two in Chicago. And when Mark and I got married we had trouble finding a place to settle down and moved a lot as well. I think this is our 7th residence together, lol.

So, yeah…I am all moved out. I really don’t want to ever do it again. ;)

XIX, XXIV, XXIX

XIX. If you could invent a new flavor of ice cream, what would it be?

Oh goodness. There is already so many good ones. I remember in culinary school, someone tried making habanero ice cream. That was NOT a good idea.
Raspberry, chocolate, almond, is that a flavor? Because I think that would be a good one if it isn’t already.
In my opinion though, homemade vanilla (use actual beans) ice cream that you have to hand crank for hours is the BEST tasting ice cream. Add a little fresh fruit on top, sure.

XXIV. If you were to write a successful book in the near future, would it probably be fiction or nonfiction?

I like how they add the successful part, lol. It would be nonfiction. I was never really good at the “creative” part of life. My mind just doesn’t think that way. I would probably write reflecting off my own life. I have a lot of thoughts, theories, psychology floating around this brain of mine.

XXIX. How many different places have you lived?

Different actual houses/homes, I think it is about 22 in my 33 years. But, I grew up in Michigan and then lived in Portland, OR for a few years, then Chicago for a couple years, and then back to Michigan. So, I have only lived in three different states :)

happyhealthycook replied to your post: It isn’t Tuesday, but since I NEED distractions today…let’s try this ;) Throw me some numbers:

XI, XX, XXV

XI. If you could wake up tomorrow having gained any one quality or ability, what would it be?

The ability to control every part of my mind. Yeah, that would be cool.   Ha ha…it would probably end up being more of a curse than a blessing ;)

XX. If you had to move from where you live, where would you go and what would you miss the most about where you live now?

Family. It all boils down to family. If I had to move out of Michigan, I would need to move somewhere else that is close to family. My mom is in Oklahoma. I have family in Georgia. And some in England. Oh, and Louisiana. And I am sure I am forgetting someone. But, the majority of my family is in Michigan. Friends, scenery, opportunity are all reasons to love a place…but it is my family that I need to be able to see often. If I go too long, I start having withdrawals.

XXV. Would you rather live in a castle or a spaceship?

Hands down, the castle. Spaceship would be cool at first, but then I would just want out of that thing. I would be like, yeah the view is cool, but I have seen it now I am done. The castle, I could take turns living in different rooms. Roam around, rearrange stuff. Have a BIG ASS dining room table and throw huge dinner parties. Yeah, castle wins by far.

The church has started setting up for their annual rummage sale. There is a jigsaw puzzle on the table out there. It is taking everything in my power not to grab it and start putting it together.

I put together our packing list and itinerary for our Youth trip next weekend. Even got it printed. Procrastination…psht.

I found out my cousin is doing a 6 hour adventure race at the end of the month. I am only a little bit excited for him. And by a little, I mean a lot ;)

I kept trying to think who I wanted to listen to today. What I was in the mood for. And then Chris posted some Zeppelin. Yeah, I think it will be a getting the Led out type of day :)

I know it was a different era, but Zeppelin brings back a lot of memories from MY high school.

We’ll just call this Weird Mood Monday, okay?
~Our (little) kids leave today. They are going to my parent’s house until Thursday. Nate is staying home. He has baseball and what not. I am ready for the quiet for a few days. It is much needed.
~Mark and I will actually get to sit and watch all of Nate’s game on Tuesday. Good stuff.
~We sold the Beast (i.e. our old Jeep Cherokee). It hasn’t been running the last couple weeks and we are lazy repair people. It needs a new battery and a water pump or something like that. I think there was one other thing. Someone stopped by and offered some money…we took it.
~We might have a lead on a cheap truck. We’ll see.
~How many hours before the bags under my eyes leave?
~Euchre tonight. Yeah!!!
~It was so nice to not have to get kids ready for school this morning. I know that summer makes Mark’s job harder, but it was nice not having to rush this morning ;)
~I have taken to just giving myself foot massages. It is better than nothing. Dogs bark, y’all.
~Work is the last thing I want to do today. Can I just take off to the beach and lay around all day??? aah.

Evening run, like after 7? I could see that. But all my non-morning runs were always between 4:30 and 6:00 and that is the wooooorst. The cars, the buses, the kids, the dogs. Ugh. Never again.

Yes, that is actually what I meant when I say evening time.
Between 4:30 and 6 is impossible for me since that is right after work, get dinner ready and/or shuffle kids to and from extracurricular activities time :)
I usually don’t go out until after dinner has had time to settle or after the kids are in bed. Which is much easier now that it stays light so much longer.
Although, I don’t have as much of the traffic issue anyway. Our little town has no buses. We only have one stop light. The speed limit is 25 mph. Kids and dogs…I don’t run in to them too much. In town, the dogs are usually chained up.
But, I can also run in the other direction and be on a quiet country road that goes for miles as well. I usually only run in to a few cars that way and they usually drive on the other side of the road for me.

almondsofjoy replied to your photoset: Pictures: 1. Running clothes were on. But, I just…

I was a consistent runner when I ahd to be (XC team). Its so hard now. Must be more committed!

I do always have to have some sort of goal or plan in mind, otherwise I fall completely off the wagon. I too easily put running lower on my priority list. Which sometimes is needed…but not all the time, lol.

Pictures:

1. Running clothes were on. But, I just really wanted to stay cuddled up in that blanket.
2. I did manage to peel myself away from my blessed blanket. And I did run. But, boy did these legs not like me. Quads, calves, shins…they all talked to me the entire run. It is a good pain though. At least that is what I keep telling myself. Stupid squats, I blame it all on you.
3. Three sunset miles. 26:41. 8:54 pace.
4. Before my run, I did my jump ropes. 250 of them. And after my run I did the rest. 128 crunches, 25 push ups, and 80 squats.
5. And since I haven’t eaten since 2 this afternoon, I am eating a late dinner and finishing off the mac n cheese leftovers. And of course a beer and some water.

(207.56/500=41%)

Ya know, I don’t know if I will ever be a consistent runner. Even if I didn’t have so many obligations. And I don’t know if I ever would consistently run in the morning or in the evening. I truly enjoy both.

Running in the morning is great. You get your work out in first thing. You shower and get ready for the day. By the time evening rolls around, you almost forget that you already got your work out in that morning. And running in the morning, there is just different sounds and smells. It can be so peaceful. And it feels good to wake your muscles up in that way.

Running in the evening can be peaceful too. Just in a different way. It is the whole your surroundings waking up vs. settling down type of peace.
And in the evening, there is something to be said for pushing through with a work out after you have had a tiring day. And then taking a shower and easing in to some comfy pajamas. Maybe crack a beer or just curl under a blanket. You can just let your tired muscles relax.

Yeah, I don’t think I would ever be one or the other. Morning runner or evening runner. I love both for too many reasons. And then there is the afternoon run….we won’t even get in to that ;)

Why am I not surprised…;)

After church, we drove up to Fennville and went to Crane’s. Crane’s is an orchard/restaurant. Among other things. They grow a lot of different things. And also have a corn maze, etc.
The restaurant has a lot of history all over their walls. A bit like Cracker Barrel, but much more interesting. It is a fun place to just go and read everything.
They have a store front where they sell pies, jams, granola, and more pies. They also make all their breads and buns from scratch.

I usually go for a burger in places like this, but for some reason the vegetrian burger intrigued me. It was very tasty. My only complaint is that it was a tad dry, but the flavor made up for it. And the homemade rye bun was really good.

For dessert I opted for the apple butter gelato. It was ok. Peyten actually ate most of mine. I would have liked it to accent a slice of apple pie, but on its own it was a bit much for me. Nate ordered the blueberry strudel with ice cream on top. Oh my goodness, so flippin good. I definitely helped him eat that one.

It was a nice day for the 40 minute drive up. And we were all ready to relax for a while once we got home. Lazy Sunday :)

Sunday Selfie :P

I always feel a little funny when I put on make up and jewelry. But, it is fun to do sometimes anyhow. ;)
