I really love food. Apparently, too much food can be a bad thing. I hear exercise can counteract that problem. I run so I can eat. Thus, I love to run.
I have to write this down before I forget…
We were sitting at the table and Peyten (2 yr old) was playing with Charly’s (6 yr old) purse. She ended up finding a cookie inside. Grammie and I were laughing that Charly had put a cookie in her purse and we weren’t really even sure where she got it from.
Peyten of course, took the opportunity, and ate the cookie. It was a small shortbread type lemon cookie.
Well, about ten minutes later, I had pretty much forgotten about the cookie. Charly came inside and joined us at the table and we were all chatting. Charly was sitting next to Peyten.
All of a sudden, Charly says: “why does your breath smell like lemon cookie?!”
And then it dawned on her and she quickly grabbed for her purse to look inside.
I, of course, was cracking up at this. Grammie was laughing. Mark was laughing. It was just so hilarious right at that point.
Charly was upset. She chucked her purse across the room and ran in to her room to bury her face in her pillow.
I just couldn’t stop laughing. I do realize, I shouldn’t have laughed so hard, since Charly was clearly upset. But, it was just so hilarious that she actually smelled lemon cookie specifically on Peyten’s breath and then realized it was from her purse.
I did calm myself down and Mark and I went to talk to Charly. We told her we would try and find some more lemon cookies. I guess it was a girl scout cookie that she got during Sunday School this morning. It was special to her.
Mark and I left Charly in her room to get ready for bed and went down the hall. And of course we had to repeat the line “why does your breath smell like lemon cookie?” and we laughed a bit more. It was just so profound and funny.
And Charly heard us and yelled down the hall “It’s not funny!”
I know, we are such mean parents, lol.
Lesson learned (should have already been learned): Don’t leave food laying around, because Peyten will most definitely eat it!!
